Ask yourself, “What if it was easy?”
What if the way you think about something could not only change your thoughts around it, but also change your results?
What if you could make a simple change in how you speak to yourself that would create a different chemical result in your brain that increased your creativity and happiness?
Well, it’s possible. And, yes, it’s easier than you think.
You might be someone that looks at everything — even small things — as looming projects. They’re challenging, they’re big, the require a lot of effort and thinking and connecting with others to get all manner of input.
Some of this might be necessary; but most of it is likely fueled by procrastination, fear, and yes, laziness. Bottom line, you can take whatever you’re thinking about and ask yourself one question: “What if it was easy?” And, it can be a life changer.
That question actually opens your brain to new possibilities by activating the pre-frontal cortex. It releases chemicals in your body that affect how you feel and how your brain works. You start processing information differently.
Because this isn’t a yes/no answer, you start opening up to possibility and options and a new way of interpreting things. Even asking yourself that question lightens your heart! Can you feel it? I know I can.
Ever since I started asking myself this question, my life has changed. I feel lighter, freer and happier. I get more done and faster. I thought I could accomplish a lot before, but now I can do more because my perspective has changed.
I think life serves up your expectations. Expect it to be hard and it will be. Expect it to be easy and it can be.
Just for today, try on this new perspective and let me know how it feels. You’ll be glad you tried it.
